Dover & South Action Group

The Dover & South Action Group is a volunteer group that organise community events to build a stronger community and promote the local area. They are the organisers of Dover Seafest, a festival of seafood and local artisans.

Re-established in 2018 and running again in 2019, Huon are happy to once again provide a grant to support the running of the event on 20 April 2019.


Hub4Health is a community association that aims to promote, advocate and facilitate sustainable primary healthcare and community development services across the Break O’Day municipality and the greater East Coast.

Financial assistance from Huon Aquaculture will assist their Break O’Day Health and Community Services Network to run meetings throughout the East Coast to promote healthier and happier livelihoods.

Huonville Primary School

Huonville Primary has an emphasis on sustainability and an aim to reduce waste both brought to and created by the school.

Their Tucker Garden is a new program to help the students and staff create their own meals from the herbs and vegetables grown within. A grant has enabled the school to purchase essential tools for making this project a reality.

Port Sorell Surf Lifesaving Club

For the past three years the Port Sorell Surf Lifesaving Club has run their Markets by the Beach community event to both promote the beautiful local beaches and fundraise for local community groups.

Huon Aquaculture is happy to once again provide the Port Sorell Surf Lifesaving Club with salmon for their fundraising barbecue. Last year’s efforts allowed for new Nippers equipment to be purchased – allowing for the continued education of the next generation of Surf Lifesavers.

Port Stephens Volunteer Marine Rescue

Port Stephens Marine Rescue is a volunteer emergency response team driven by the motto volunteers saving lives on the water.

A grant from Huon Aquaculture has allowed for the purchase of three first aid kits for their rescue vessels.

Rokeby Primary School

Rokeby Primary are focussing on environmental concerns within their education with an emphasis on the litter problem they see in the wider community.

They are promoting a ‘naked lunch’ approach to reduce the amount of plastic wrapping students bring on their lunches and funds provided by Huon Aquaculture have facilitated the purchase of beeswax and fabric to create plastic-free alternative wraps.

Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden

Emu Valley has a strong reputation as a world class garden and tourist attraction in Tasmania. They provide work programs and assist with the disadvantaged members of their community with opportunities provided by their grounds.

Huon Aquaculture was happy to assist with providing our premium quality salmon to be used to assist with their fundraising efforts.

Ringarooma Primary School

Ringarooma Primary School serves the children of the isolated rural area in North-East Tasmania. The Ringarooma Show is partially organised by the school and is their major fund-raising activity for the year.

Huon Aquaculture are proud to provide a grant to assist with the entertainment and running of the 2019 Ringarooma Show.

Strahan Christmas Decoration Committee

The Strahan Christmas Family Night is an annual West Coast community event for all ages. Held at Strahan’s Anzac Park the event is attended by Huon’s Strahan-based employees and the local community as a whole.

Huon Aquaculture is once again proud to support this community event with a grant allowing for entertainment for the young and young at heart.

Karuah Public School

Karuah Public School is located in Karuah, NSW alongside the picturesque Karuah River. One of the cornerstones of their community, the school has an enrolment of 130 students with 30% of those identifying as being of Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander descent.

A grant provided by Huon Aquaculture has assisted with the purchase of an AED/defibrillator to assist with any First Aid or CPR emergencies both in the school and in the local community.

1st Penguin Sea Scout Group

The Penguin Sea Scouts aim to aid the children in the local community to develop into forward-thinking citizens of the future. The Sea Scouts are an extension of the regular Scout movement with a strong focus on water-based activities.

The Cubs enjoy canoeing and kayaking in the bay at Penguin as well as rowing and sailing in the Scout patrol boat and funding donated by Huon Aquaculture has allowed for the purchase of essential lifejackets to continue their activities further.
