Work Placements

Due to COVID-19 the number of work placements at Huon Aquaculture have been reduced across certain operational teams.

If you are a student interested in a work placement, you can still submit your details via the link below.  However, you may not receive a reply until a placement becomes available.

Huon Aquaculture supports the education of young professionals interested in pursuing a career in aquaculture by providing work placements.

During a work placement with Huon, students are given the opportunity to work and learn alongside our dedicated staff to gain a full understanding of what is involved in producing high-quality salmon and Ocean Trout. Our employees are highly skilled and knowledgeable in what they do and are committed to educating the next generation of salmon producers/practitioners.

Due to the high level of demand for industry work placements, we limit the number of student placements to ensure a more valuable learning experience and the scheduling of work placements is dependent on operational requirements and the availability of supervising employees.

All applications for a placement with Huon are considered on an individual basis. The selection of successful applicants involves a merit-based and equitable process to find students who share our passion for the industry, values and culture. We also recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce and, as a result, ensure that our selection process encourages equal and diverse opportunities for all applicants.

General placement applications may be kept on file for up to 12 months.

Under Huon’s policies and procedures, applicants who are successful in obtaining a work placement with Huon may be subject to random onsite drug and alcohol testing.
