We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our Maintenance team at our state of the art Processing Facility in North West Tasmania.
Our Parramatta Creek Processing and Smokehouse facility is located 15 minutes from Devonport and processes all of the Salmon and Ocean Trout that we farm in Tasmania. From here, product is distributed across Tasmania, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
This position will support our extensive maintenance program and play a crucial role in the area of engineering selections of equipment and distribution systems based on the latest equipment design, manufacture, supply and compliance with food safety specifications and regulations.
This will require participation in project preparation including expenditure justification based on processing requirements, design criteria, cost benefits, schedule timeframes and finished product requirements.
You will be responsible for testing mechanical systems and ensuring that all maintenance activities are completed to the highest possible standard.
In this key role, you will coordinate with contractors and our engineering team to ensure safe and efficient processing outcomes.
The position will work a 7 day on, 7 day off day shift roster.
Qualifications & Experience
You will be adaptable to changing demands and situations, keen and self-motivated with a positive and cooperative approach. You will be required to work in a fast paced environment, with good organisational and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively and cooperatively with all production teams onsite. It is essential that you have a recognised Mechanical trade qualification and extensive experience within Salmon and Trout Processing facilities with the focus on installation, optimization and maintenance of Baader and Marel equipment and technology. You may also hold an Electrical trade qualification. A copy of your qualifications must be submitted upon application.
Experience working with small to medium sized teams in a processing environment will be highly regarded, as is the understanding and awareness of WH&S, QA and Food Safety requirements and practices.
