Tasmanian Salmonid Health Surveillance Program

All Huon salmon are covered under the Tasmanian Salmonid Health Surveillance Program (TSHSP) which is a jointly funded program between the salmonid industry in Tasmania and the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industry, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE).

The TSHSP has been in operation since 1994 and is reviewed annually to ensure it meets the ongoing needs of industry. It is a key component of any fish health emergency within Tasmania and ensures open communication between Industry and Government with the early notification of all disease events by the producer or diagnostic laboratory.
The TSHSP is supported by a comprehensive diagnostic laboratory capability encompassing the Tasmanian Animal Health Labs (Launceston) and the CSIRO Australian Animal Health Labs in Geelong (Victoria).
