We hold a number of international certifications that cover everything from world class farming certifications to strict packaging and food safety standards.
ASC certification provides endorsement of environmental and social processes, including seafood production practices and protection of the rights of workers.
ASC certification is on a lease by lease basis and two of our leases have ASC certification: Storm Bay (Bruny Island) and Flathead Bay (Huon River). We are currently working towards full ASC certification.
Huon was the first salmon producer in Australia to achieve the internationally recognised Global G.A.P. certification.
The Global G.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance Standard – Aquaculture Version 4 – is a pre-farm gate standard that covers the whole production process of the certified product from the hatchery until the point of harvest and packing.
The Global G.A.P standard not only audits Huon’s operations but also those of companies that supply us, which means that there is a rigorous and thorough understanding of the entire process of farming and growing salmon.
British Retail Consortium (BRC)
Huon is a BRC AA-rated seafood processor.
The BRC Global Standards specify requirements to be met to enable the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food and consumer products. Originally developed in response to the needs of UK members of the British Retail Consortium, the Standards have gained usage world-wide and are specified by growing numbers of retailers and branded manufacturers in the EU, North America and further afield.
Huon is HACCP certified. Safe food production is achieved by applying HACCP techniques to ensure that potential hazards during the process are recognised, monitored and controlled.
Huon is DAWR certified as an ‘A’ rated export establishment.
