We are proposing to grow the area we farm on the eastern side of Bruny Island.
Our proposal is to establish a new zone with a maximum leasable area of 230 hectares nearby our Storm Bay site.
So we can ensure that all infrastructure stays within the zone and won’t move outside the area in rough weather, we want to increase the maximum leasable area of our existing zones from 50, to 75 hectares for each zone
Biosecurity has been a key driver in the planning process. By moving our Yellow Bluff lease (pictured in the map above), as far away as possible from Storm Bay (SB) Leases 1-4, we will have division between different year classes of fish, making them less susceptible to disease transfer.
We have been in consultation with Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST), TasPorts as well as boat users in regards to our proposal. As a result of their feedback, we have have altered our original proposal to keep navigation channels open.
Consultation with community groups and individuals is ongoing.
