Huon Aquaculture’s operations span freshwater hatcheries, marine sites and processing facilities, each with specific environmental and regulatory requirements. Huon’s Compliance team works with sites to ensure compliance with these environmental and regulatory requirements.
Based in Hobart, the team regularly travels across Tasmania to visit Huon’s work sites to conduct internal audits with the purpose of identifying opportunities for improvement and conducting environmental sampling.
The role is also responsible for assisting with the implementation of an environmental and regulatory management framework across all divisions of the business, producing reports, preparing and auditing site specific management plans, ensuring all licences, permits and approvals are maintained, and working with the Quality Systems Manager to ensure certification and accreditation requirements are met.
A scientific background with tertiary qualifications is essential as is previous experience working with complex regulatory environments, a current driver’s licence, demonstrated ability to collate, interpret and analyse information, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work self-directed, while at the same time forming strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, and a technical mindset, and be willing to learn and further develop industry experience.
