Join the Huon team at sea where for the first time, we’ll show you what’s beneath the surface.

Huon’s Senior Environmental Compliance Officer, Joe, leads a dedicated team responsible for monitoring the environment under and around Huon’s pens.
This year, Joe will join Huon’s community boat tours to demonstrate how remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) are used to monitor the seafloor. Visitors will be able to see the seafloor in real time and ask questions along the way.
“Come to sea with me and take a look for yourself.”

During this year’s tours, visitors will be able to see a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) in action and get a live view of what lies beneath Huon’s pens.
ROVs are underwater robots fitted with cameras that allow our team to inspect the seafloor in real time. These surveys help monitor seafloor conditions and identify indicators such as fish feed, fish waste and other organic material.
“The ROV is a really important tool for us because it shows us exactly what is happening beneath the pens. It’s a truth teller.”

100% of proceeds raised from Huon’s 2026 tours will go directly to Foodbank Tasmania.
